Chapter Seventeen

The morning was cloudy, but I didn't expect that it would grow worse.

When the book sales residuals hit my bank account, I finally purchased beds for the triplets. Good-bye air mattresses.

Then the weather turned and it began storming heavily.

The kids arrived home from school. Both Daria and Bianca had made 'A' honor roll and both were in range for the Responsibility character value. Tonight I'd be baking their birthday cake. Tomorrow they'd move in with their dad.

Hunter now boasted an 'A' and Jasper and Gavner each brought home a 'B'. Two of the kids were in dire need of showers and none of them were amused to be dumped off by the school bus in drenching rain. I'd never purchased umbrellas, oops. I needed to rectify that.

Daria's newest trait was Art Lover and she planned on becoming a Journalist.

Bianca's newest trait was Family-Oriented and she planned on becoming a Professional Athlete.

As the kids chattered that evening, my heart was heavy knowing my daughters would move away. They would age like their father and die.

After they were all asleep, the storm passed through. I walked around collecting crystals from the lightning strikes and sent my latest book to the publisher, Lover Revived. It was the third in my Ebony Cutlass series.

I noticed Daria was pensive the next morning.

She played outside a bit then cuddled her youngest brothers sweetly.

Then it was time to pack up and head for the city. Marcus lived in a two-bedroom apartment in San Myshuno.

Marcus greeted his daughters warmly.

I took a look around. It was a very nice place.

Marcus suggested I take the boys to the big city park on my way home.

I wanted to, but it was bright and sunny out. I'd yet to learn how to make the potion that would allow me to daywalk for a handful of hours. Nor had I summoned the powers to allow me to do the same. I had no choice but to take them straight home. I needed to find the time to level up in my vamp knowledge.

Feeling sorry for myself, I splurged on a bar and fireplace for the living room.

But I couldn't exactly put on airs. My formal dining room was still an office combined with a toddler outhouse.

Once the kids were down for the night, I was torn between writing and hunting for the next baby daddy. I decided to do a little of both.

I cruised the street near the new pub and met Justin Delgato. He was married, but attractive and within grasp. I wasn't a homewrecker. I just needed him for a little while.

We walked and chatted until I had him on my property.

He stripped down to jump onto my kids' slip-n-slide, but I had other plans for him and turned on the vampy charm.

It started raining again, so I sent him on his way. I dashed into the house for a pee-on-the-stick moment.

I was pregnant for the fourth time.
