Chapter Three

In reading on vamp lore, I figured out why vamps were going extinct and I (once becoming a vamp) needed to mate with humans. If two vamps had a baby together  - who knew they could even do that? - their baby would be a vamp from day one. Controlling a vamp toddler or child  was almost impossible and they'd have to be locked away from humans during those years. It made them almost impossible to integrate in human society later.

But a vamp and human had a 50/50 chance of having a vamp baby that wouldn't exhibit any vampire abilities until the teen years. With a normal childhood and turning at a more mature age, they'd fare much better. The problem is a male vamp couldn't impregnate a female human and leave the baby with it's mom. The little tyke would likely drain it's mother first chance. And most female vamps didn't want to risk falling in love with a human male, knowing they'd watch their beloved die.

That's where I came in: breed with loads of humans but don't get attached or fall in love. My biggest concern was that entire 50/50 chance of having a human baby. What if this meant I needed to have 200 babies total to fulfill my contract. Fuck me, that would suck.

I spent the next days gathering plasma fruit and planting some, reading up on vamp lore, learning to write, finding a writing gig, and trying in vain to quench an uneasy hunger.

The time I waiting for finally arrived. I transformed.

It was imperative that no one learn I was a vamp, so until I figured out how to hunt discretely, I'd be quenching my thirst through something that looked like a juice pouch for little kids.

With my thirst subdued, it was time to find a sperm donor.
